Programs for Women at ONSC
The Ozark Natural Science Center is the perfect venue for women’s programs. Our scenic campus in the Bear Hollow Natural Area on nearly 500 acres of Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission land is an idyllic place. We always hear that grown-ups wish they could go back to summer camp – you can do that at ONSC! Adirondack chairs and rockers with sweeping views from our deck, chatting around the campfire and bunking in the lodges with friends old and new will take you back to that childhood feeling when summer stretched before you with so many possibilities (and so few responsibilities).
Detailed information on all of our women’s programs is available below , and we will send packing lists, arrival times, driving directions and specific event information once we receive your registration form. All of our women’s events have fairly relaxed schedules, because we understand that sometimes a nap or reading a book can be just as restorative as our programming. We also do our best to keep our prices as reasonable as possible, keeping in mind that just two nights in a hotel would run around $200 – we throw in all of your meals, lodging, snacks, beverages and any courses or programming as well as extra treats for the whole weekend for less than $300. Call some friends and plan ahead to spend your next getaway weekend enjoying the best of the Ozarks and the calming effects of the natural world.

ONSC 2012 Women’s Programs
Spring: Mar. 30 – Apr. 1 ● Fall: Oct. 19 – 21
Mark your calendar – we promise you will not want to miss our annual Women’s Yoga Retreat! Space is limited and this getaway experience is appropriate for beginners as well as those experienced with yoga. And, if sitting on our porch rockers experiencing the beauty of the Bear Hollow Natural Area is your idea of “yoga” and meditation, we encourage that too.
This is not a regimented weekend! Join us for both athletic and relaxed yoga instruction, informative hikes or birding walks, a massage and facial, optional sunrise yoga, bonding around the campfire and giggling like you’re back at camp (you are!) with girlfriends old and new. All meals, beverages, instruction, lodging and a massage and facial are included! FALL WOMEN’S YOGA RETREAT REGISTRATION FORM
Women’s Outdoor Skills Weekend ($250)
November 16 – 18
Learn how to be safer and more self-reliant in the outdoors. Whether you’re a seasoned outdoorswoman or an occasional camper, the Women’s Outdoor Skills Weekend will make you more competent and enthusiastic in any outdoor setting: casual hikes with family and friends, meandering down a nature trail snapping photographs, leading a scout troop or regularly enjoying camping, fishing, canoeing, hunting or other activities. Develop deeper appreciation of the natural world and the skills to enjoy it. The weekend will include camp craft (how to select and properly set-up your gear and campsite), fire starting, orienteering (GPS and compass) and map-reading, basic first aid and survival, outdoor clothing and edible plants. Use the general registration form above or access detailed information and a registration form here.
Arkansas Women Bloggers Unplugged Conference
June 1 – 3
Whether you’re a novice blogger, an expert or just considering the possibility of jumping into the blogosphere, the #ARWB Unplugged conference will give you skills, connections and a refreshing weekend of self-exploration. It’s “unplugged” because we step away from the screen, slow down, look other women in the eye and enjoy the best of the natural world. Last year’s attendees ranged from outdoor enthusiasts to those who’d rather interact with nature from arm’s length, but they all had a blast. Make sure you’ve explored and joined www.ArkansasWomenBloggers.com, and watch both sites for additional details on this upcoming event.
